March 19th 2011 - Wheal Coates

March 19th 2011 - Wheal Coates

Got up nice and early on Saturday morning to do some walking training with the dorgs and my W I D E lens along the North Coast. We started off at Wheal Coates, near St Agnes, and walked south westwards, along the coast, through Chapel Porth and Porthtowan, ending up outside Portreath Airfield before turning round and retracing our steps.

As you can see it was such a beautiful morning! Fabulous sunshine and good vis - you can see St Ives far along the coast.

Coate Water Country Park, Swindon, Wiltshire

Coate Water is a man made reservoir constructed by The Wilts & Berks Canal Company in the early 1820's to top up the canal which passed through Swindon at the time. However, following the arrival of the Great Western Railway in the 1840's the canal gradually fell into decline and in 1914 the Swindon Corporation acquired the site as a place for leisure for the people of Swindon.

    infrared heaters
  • (Infrared heater) An infrared heater is a body with a higher temperature which transfers energy to a body with a lower temperature through electromagnetic radiation. Depending on the temperature of the emitting body, the wavelength of the infrared radiation ranges from 780 nm to 1 mm.

  • (Infrared Heater) An infrared or radiant furnace is one that uses infrared lamps, electric heating elements, flames, or radiant tubes to heat the product.  Although the heaters may also heat the furnace gasses, the primary heat source is radiant heating.  See Infrared Heaters below.

  • (Infrared heater) A source of heat-producing wavelengths, longer than visible light, which do not heat the air through which they pass, but only those objects in the line of sight.

    propane

  • A flammable hydrocarbon gas of the alkane series, present in natural gas and used as bottled fuel

  • Propane is a three-carbon alkane, normally a gas, but compressible to a transportable liquid. It is derived from other petroleum products during oil or natural gas processing. It is commonly used as a fuel for engines, oxy-gas torches, barbecues, portable stoves and residential central heating.
